Our mattresses are designed to be supported by slatted platform bed frames – spaced approximately two to three inches apart; no foundation is necessary.

Wood Slat Foundations

Pennsylvania Amish kiln-dried wood, featuring dowel and beam construction, is the very same used on waterbeds where extreme pressure and weight factors call for maximum durability. An impressive 18 wooden slats with zoned construction, center rail, and increased edge support all add up to superior stabilizing support, durability and extended life. Our foundations are made with minimal environmental impact, using only wood from managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

Wood Slat Foundation Description

If you have a metal frame, or prefer the additional height of a foundation, then you should add a slat box foundation with your mattress. The Slatted Foundations are made from FSC-certified wood and use plant-based cellulose rayon/poly fiber (no wool) so they can also be used for our Vegan-mattresses. Foundation is covered with organic cotton fabric.

Slat Foundations are offered in two different heights so you can choose the one most appropriate for your bedframe.

Low-Profile – 5″ height
Standard – 9″ height
