Hand Cast Pewter Process
Pewter ingots or pellets are melted in a crucible or melting pot until they reach the desired temperature. Once molten, the pewter is carefully poured into the mold through a sprue, which allows the metal to flow into all parts of the mold cavity. The pewter cools and solidifies within the mold, taking on the shape and details of the mold cavity. After the pewter has cooled, the casting is removed from the mold, trimmed, and any imperfections are cleaned up or polished.
